Police are warning drivers to lock their doors after a young woman was confronted by a group of males in a terrifying incident near Penrith.
Nepean Police said they had received a report from a young woman who was approached by a group of about four males on push bikes while driving on Castlereagh Rd near Waterside Blvd.
The males blocked the road as the young woman attempted to drive through on Wednesday evening.
The woman was left shocked and in tears after the terrifying encounter, according to a Facebook post.
“Just want to inform everyone to be careful if you are driving on Castlereagh Rd near Wasterside,” a post on the Hawkesbury Parents Facebook page read.
“(A young woman) was driving home from that direction at 10.15pm when five young men circled her car.
“They put jumpers over their faces and told her to be quiet or else something would happen.
“They then opened her doors and tried to get in the car.
“Other cars that were coming up and down the road were told by them to drive away and they all did.
“She eventually found a gap in the car when one of the boys went to tell a car to move and she drove away and down the road to a 7-11 and called police.
“Police are now investigating this matter.”
In a separate post on the Kurrajong Community Group Facebook page, a second driver recounted a similar experience.
“Coming home from Glenbrook through the road works at Penrith and arriving on Castlereagh Rd near the whitewater rafting, we were confronted by four young guys riding bicycles wearing hoodies and dark glasses,” the post read.
“They blocked the road and surrounded us, opened the boot and genuinely terrified us.
“It is very dark on that stretch of road and there was no traffic.
“We managed to swing the car away and escape, but please lock your cars and if you see anything similar, turn around and get to a safe well-lit area.”
Nepean Police said they were only aware of one report and were making inquiries. They have urged anyone who had had a similar encounter to contact the police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 000 333.
