One of the men caught up in a corrective services sex scandal has his own legal matters to worry about after sending abusive and threatening texts to another woman.
Caleb Valeri, of St Clair, was due to be sentenced in Penrith Local Court on Monday on charges of driving while disqualified and using a carriage service to menace/harass/offend, but his matters were adjourned just hours before yesterday’s scandal hit the media.
Valeri was allegedly in a relationship with prison guard Melissa Goodwin who was yesterday arrested and charged with performing sexual acts on another inmate at Silverwater Correctional Centre.
None of the charges relate to Valeri.
The 24-year-old is an aspiring rapper going by the name of Hoodrich Hefner on YouTube who has released songs titled Wipe Em Off Set, I Got Me, HoodFellas’, and Won’t Fold.
Valeri has pleaded guilty to sending his ex-partner Tiana-Lee Matapuku, with whom he has a five-year-old son, a string of abusive and menacing text messages.
Valeri sent Ms Matapuku a message at 1.21pm on November 1 last year asking for the birth certificate of his child for an upcoming cruise.
When Ms Matapuku asked who the child would be travelling with, Valeri made reference to his own mother, two brothers, sister, and a nephew before texting “mother f*****, don’t ask questions”.
When Ms Matapuku continued asking questions, Valeri became angry and started sending threatening messages.
At 4.45pm, he sent a message that said “grow up you sooky little dog. Wake up to yourself”.
He then sent a message saying “If you weren’t my son’s mum I’d jump on your head & you can go court (sic) baby girl, but I’ll win the war”.
The message was finished with a picture of a coffin.
Just a minute later, he sent another message saying “Don’t even reply back you ugly f***, I’ll come to your house and slap the s*** out of you and whoever else wants it”.
Valeri sent Ms Matupuku more text messages the next day before she contacted police at about 4.25pm.
He was arrested at his St Clair home at 5.50pm where police seized his mobile phone.
He also pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while disqualified relating to an incident on August 22 last year.
Police pulled him over for a random breath test on Ellsworth Drive, Tregear, where he immediately told police “I shouldn’t be driving, I am suspended”.
He will next appear before Penrith Local Court on June 16.
