A $7.3 million eight-storey retail and residential complex has been approved for a Great Western Highway site that used to be the home to Stride NDIS Support Kingswood.
The modified application, lodged by Kg Kingswood Pty Ltd on December 18, 2020, was approved on January 7 which included more units and parking spaces than the original approved plans.
The existing building will be demolished to make way for the new block which will boast a ground floor commercial space and 40 units spread over seven levels.
Eight units will be dedicated affordable housing.
There will be three basement parking levels to accommodate 31 cars, 12 bikes and 2 motorbikes.
There will also be landscaping for a communal rooftop terrace and there will be shops at ground floor.
The new complex sits in prime location, within walking distance of Red Cross Anniversary Park, about 300m from Kingswood railway station and near to Nepean public and private hospitals.
According to the development application, the modified development will have “positive” social and economic impacts as it will provide “housing diversity” in the area.
Environmentally, the application claims the development “has evolved with the growth of the adjoining precinct and is responsive to broader developments in the region” like the Western Sydney Airport and metro.
