A western Sydney man who police allege sexually assaulted a Hawkesbury woman last month has been released from police custody on bail.

Beau Taylor, 28, of Jordan Springs, faced one count of sexual intercourse without consent during a court appearance before Magistrate Bree Chisholm at Penrith Local Court on Wednesday.

Police will allege Taylor sexually assaulted the woman, who can’t be named for legal reasons, at a home sometime between midday and 1pm on August 30.

During a bail application, Taylor’s lawyer told Magistrate Chisholm his client had no criminal record.

He said Taylor worked full-time for a trucking company in Austral and regularly drove a three-day round trip to Brisbane and back.

“He resides at an address in Jordan Springs, he can report to police on Monday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and he can agree not to leave the state except for work purposes,” Taylor’s lawyer said.

“He drove himself to the police station for an interview (regarding the matter), so he’s not planning on hiding from this.”

The prosecution opposed bail, saying there was an unacceptable risk of endangering the complainant if he was released from custody.

“It’s an extremely serious set of facts,” the prosecutor said.

Magistrate Chisholm agreed to release Taylor on strict conditional bail.

“This is an incredibly serious offence of a sexual nature,” she said.

“I’m satisfied there are conditions I can put forward for your release, and I grant bail with those conditions.”

Taylor must live at an address in Jordan Springs, must report to police four times a week, must not contact or go near the complainant or any prosecution witness, must not leave the state of NSW except for the purposes of his work and forfeit $1000 as a surety.

He will next appear before Penrith Local Court on November 13.
