Penrith is set to help keep Australia safe from Covid – and will provide local jobs in the process.

All Cast PPE has opened a new Penrith-based manufacturing facility four times larger than its existing plant in North Rocks.

The company has said the move will significantly increase production as Australia aims to live with Covid.

“We selected the Penrith area because of its growth potential, strong business presence and infrastructure and investment projects such as the Nepean Business Park,” Scott Huntsman, All Cast PPE CEO said.

“There is a clear focus on economic growth and supporting businesses to grow and prosper in this region and we are excited to be part of the journey.”

The opening of the facility was marked by Penrith’s Mayor Karen McKeown and Mr Huntsman cutting a ribbon made of masks at the Coreen Ave facility on Thursday morning.

Penrith Mayor Karen McKeown OAM said she was thrilled to visit the All Cast PPE’s new manufacturing facilities.

“Penrith offers limitless opportunities for businesses of all sizes looking to establish their premises here,” she said

“Business have been doing it tough over the last 18 months, which is why it is exciting to welcome All Cast PPE to Penrith as they expand their manufacturing operations to meet increased demand.”

The Australian owned and operated business specialises in quality Australian level 3 masks as well as a range of other PPE products that are crucial for use across various industries.

“Unfortunately, up to 80% of face masks on the market in Australia are low quality. This is because many of them have been imported into Australia and they don’t meet minimum requirements to stop the spread of disease,” Mr Huntsman said.

“While we manufacture masks for the health sector and other industries including construction, retail and hospitality to name a few, we also produce masks for consumers as well.”

All Cast PPE employs up to 20 people and anticipates this number to grow over the next 12 months, alongside the amount of output they hope to generate.

“We currently have the capacity to produce 2.5 billion units per year. Over the next few months this will increase to 5 billion as we bring new technology online and increase production of Level 3 masks and expand our range to valveless respirator masks and sterilisation wraps for surgery rooms, along with other products.”

Mr Huntsman added: “Our masks are manufactured on site and our business is listed with the Australian Therapeutic Goods Association. Our products are high quality and Australian made.

“My hope is that as awareness grows of Australian made products in our sector that governments, businesses and consumers will choose to buy products manufactured in Australia.”
