NSW dog walkers are in for a treat.

A new app has canine lovers spoiled for choice, providing thousands of dog friendly tracks across Australia at the touch of a button.

Pawsome Places” is the brainchild app of local Seaforth resident, Alex May, who birthed the idea during lockdown when she discovered the troubles many NSW residents face when taking their dogs for a stroll.

“Living in Australia, we realised it‘s actually hard because there are so many places you can’t take them into, like national parks or beaches for example,” she said.

“It’s hard to find a good dog track, it’s one that offers diversity ... for our dogs it’s much more about new and interesting things to smell, so a bushtrack is a lot more stimulating.”

The app shares places, photos or dog-travel-hacks which allows it’s users to find the best routes near them that have already been tested by other patrons.

After countless hours developing the app, Misses May has been able to create a platform with thousands of walking routes from the blue mountains to the Eastern Suburbs, and tracks in Queensland, Victoria and beyond.

“I started researching where can I take my dog other than just a dog park, where can I include them in my adventures,” she said.

“The deeper I dug, the more places I found, and all of them so it started off with the small list and turned into a massive one.

“I literally spent thousands of hours on this project, researching the information, writing thousands of emails to councillors and teachers, organisations and National Parks to verify with them.”

The app is community driven, as it allows users to post their dog adventures and share hidden gems which also include sculpture walks, waterfalls, lookouts, museums, boat rentals, river cruises, and guided tours.

Pawsome Places, which launched in March, already has over 10 thousand downloads and can be found on the app store for free today.
