Woman indecently assaulted at Merrylands

Police are still looking for the perpetrator of a terrifying indecent assault of a woman at a Sydney train station where the man tried to drag the woman to a dark car park.

A woman was indecently assaulted after she left Merrylands train station last night.

Police said the 33-year-old woman left Merrylands train station about 9.20pm and walked along Walpole St.

About 20 minutes later, a bus stopped at Pitt St between Manchester and Bermingham streets where a man, described as Indian/subcontinental in appearance with a thin build and short black hair with stubble on his face, got off the bus.

As the woman approached Holroyd Gardens carpark entry on Walpole St, the man took hold of her from behind and pushed her to the ground before indecently assaulting her.

He attempted to pull her towards the carpark but was disturbed by a vehicle driving past.

He let the woman go and fled the area.

The woman contacted police and Cumberland police are investigating the incident.
