Woman falls to her death at Westfield Parramatta
A woman has died at Westfield Parramatta. Access to many of the stores has been taped off as emergency services remain at the scene.
A woman has died following an incident at Westfield Parramatta and access to many of the shops has been taped off.
Police said they were called to the mall about 1pm.
Parramatta police posted on Facebook that the woman had fallen.
“Emergency services have responded to an incident at Westfield Parramatta where a person has fallen from a height.
“Police and security have cordoned the area off while medical personnel attend to the person.
“Police are in control of the situation and any witnesses to the incident are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.”
By 3pm, most access to level two of the mall had been taped off to the public.
Entry to stores on other levels, near one of the main escalators at the centre of the mall, have also been taped off.
However, many of the stores in the mall are still open.
Scentre Group, who own Westfield, said they were offering counselling to any customers who may need it following the incident.
“The welfare and safety of our customers, retailer partners and people is our priority,” a spokeswoman said.
“We have made support and counselling services available to those who need it.
“We would encourage anyone who may need support to contact our centre management office directly.”
