Wentworthville woman found dead in her Lane St unit

A manhunt is under way after a 23-year-old woman was found dead at her western Sydney apartment.

A manhunt is under way after a 23-year-old woman was found dead at her Wentworthville apartment at Lane St in the early hours of Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to a unit about 2.40am after reports a man had been injured.

Cumberland police and NSW Ambulance paramedics found the woman’s dead body, She has not yet been formally identified but is believed to be the unit’s occupant.

A crime scene has been established and is being examined by specialist forensic officers.

Cumberland detectives and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad have established Strike Force Palca to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, and want to speak to a man who is known to the woman.

The 24-year-old man is described as Caucasian, between 170cm and 180cm tall, of medium build, with brown hair and blue eyes.

As the investigation continues, police are appealing for the man or anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.
