A $1.9 million residential complex being built as part of a health and innovation facility is gathering pace for Westmead.
The building will include two blocks over eight and 11 storeys above shops and a childcare centre in the $350 million Innovation Quarter at Hawkesbury Rd.
The centre, also to be known as iQ, will feature some of Western Sydney University’s leading research institutes and house Australia’s national science agency, CSIRO, at its 28,000sq m site which is predicted to pump $150 million into the economy when it opens this year.
The project is expected to generate 1000 jobs and expected to attract many employees keen to live in the suburb.
Parramatta Council approved the plans for 158-164 Hawkesbury Rd in 2018. Plans for the units in the west tower were recently modified and will be determined by the State Government.
The iQ complex is part of the booming Westmead health precinct with billions worth of investment government being poured into the suburb including the Metro West station, light rail, Sydney University campus, Australia’s largest health precinct and an influx of residents and 50,000 workers by 2036.
