September most popular month for births in Australia
Maternity wards are busier this month and it’s all because Aussie families are more likely to conceive during the summer holidays.

Newborn Era Haliti is one in a million to her North Rocks family but she’s also part of an interesting statistical trend in Australia.
September is the most common birth month for Aussies. Data shows September 17 is the most common birthday for Australians, with 8862 delivered on that date, followed by 8829 births on April 8 and 8816 on September 23.
And it’s because holidays are quite the aphrodisiac.
“It is no coincidence that nine months prior to these dates brings us to the Christmas and end-of-year holiday season,” social analyst Mark McCrindle said.
Mr McCrindle said for the past 10 years, September births were 3.5 per cent higher in Australia than the average months.
Era, who was born 54cm long and 3.8kg at Westmead Hospital, was scheduled to be delivered on September 17 but that was shelved until September 19 when the family had to rush to be with her mother Karen’s ill sister.
Mrs Haliti said her and husband Labinot, who is an assistant coach with the Western Sydney Wanderers, conceived Era on Boxing Day.
Era is a sister to Elsa, 3, and Art, 2, who were born in March and November respectively.
