Search for missing woman Aanisha Sathik at Auburn

A teen who went missing more than a week ago has been found, a day after her anxious father issued a desperate plea for the public to help find his “brilliant” daughter.

A teen who went missing more than a week ago has been found in Berala, a day after her anxious father issued a desperate plea for the public to help find his “brilliant” daughter.

Aanisha Sathik was found safe at Berala on Tuesday about 2pm after she was last seen on Park Rd, Auburn, on the afternoon of June 23.

On Tuesday, NSW Police issued a statement revealing Miss Sathik had been found safely.

“She has been taken to hospital for assessment,’’ the statement read.

“Police would like to thank the public and media for their assistance.”

The search for the computer science student has ramped up on Monday when NSW Police and SES volunteers descended on Berala to find Miss Sathik.

CCTV captured her walking slowly while she headed south along Harrow Rd, before heading to Norman Park where she spent about two hours before travelling down Mt Auburn Rd, into Woodburn Rd near Stone St at Berala about 5pm.

Auburn Superintendent Robert Toynton addressed media on Monday to appeal for public assistance to piece together her next moves after the meticulous CCTV canvas.

“It’s a very difficult investigation because unfortunately she doesn’t have a phone with her, she doesn’t have any money with her and it’s now been seven days since she’s been missing,’’ he said.

“We’ve got grave concerns for her welfare so we’re asking people in the Berala area, which was where she was last seen, to check any CCTV of their premises,’’ Supt Toynton said.

“Can you please have a look in your yards to make sure she’s not anywhere in your property.

“Seven days is a long time to be missing.

“She hasn’t been potentially without food for seven days.’’

Miss Sathik’s distraught family joined him to implore the public’s help to find their daughter.

Her emotional father Sathik Kabeeb broke down while he addressed the media.

“She’s very brave, she’s studying at UNSW and everyone’s help is needed, you can share all the information to neighbours and friends … it’s like your family, it’s like your daughter, please find my daughter very soon,’’ he said

Mr Kabeeb said his daughter, who received an ATAR of 94, was a “bit upset” when she left the home and “our heart is already broken”.

“She has anxiety, depression so she disconnected from friends but she had a bit of communication but it’s not that much,” he said.

“She doesn’t have any friends to go out (with), she always goes with us … so we are a bit scared now, so we need help (from) everyone.

“People, police and God have to help us.’’

He said his daughter had suffered anxiety and depression for about six months but was “very brilliant, and a smart girl”.

“She can survive, we know that but I don’t know what’s happened to my daughter,” he said.
