A 42-storey tower has been lodged for the top of Westfield Parramatta.

Scentre Group, Westfield landlords, lodged the plans with the NSW Government this month, after initially making plans in 2014 for 25-storey office tower on the shopping complex.

The tower is estimated to cost $492 million, with a $15 million levy paid to Parramatta council.

The proposed tower, which will have 112,000sq m of office space will be on he corner of Church and Argyle streets.

The tower will be placed in the centre of the Westfield complex.

The building, designed by Woods Bagot, will feature 562 parking spaces and will look onto the nearby Aspire tower at 4 Parramatta Square.

The revised plans lodged this week include raising the gross floor area from 35,000sq m to 112,000sq m and adding almost 20 storeys to the original design.

The skyscraper will be built with a platform separating it from the below retail section.

A Scentre Group spokeswoman said the company had “no further updates” prior to lodging the modified plans for the tower.

“We are always looking at how we can enhance our offering to meet the changing needs of the community, across retail and beyond,’ the spokeswoman said.

“We are working with the authorities seeking approval of our concept plans for commercial offices in Parramatta.”

Westfield currently has five retail storeys, with the additional 42 tacked onto the building.

The entire additional building has been allocated as commercial space with a proposed lobby on level six of Westfield.

The group said in their submission that they have ruled out any plans to demolish parts of Westfield stating it was unviable.

“Structural investigations have indicated that it is feasible to undertake building alterations and structural enhancements to the retail podium, further to the west, in the current location of the department store, to provide for a taller office tower with larger rectangular floor plates,” the submission read.
