Just “like clockwork” the banks of the Parramatta River have flooded, leaving the weir looking like a waterfall.
The banks are usually filled with workers ambling along the during lunch time breaks but have been roped off during the floods that have wreaked havoc across Sydney.
Since yesterday, Parramatta, Holroyd and Blacktown SES units have responded 45 incidents including roof damage at Guildford West and Greystanes, branches down at Dundas Valley and trees down at Parramatta.
“Like clockwork, the rain is falling and the river is rising,’’ the Parramatta SES unit posted on Facebook yesterday.
“Heavy falls across the Parramatta River catchment over the last 18 hours have brought the river up, now covering the walking paths on both the northern and southern banks.
“You can easily see the volume of debris in the water, even from a moderate flow, in these excellent photos provided by a local resident.”
In the 24 hours to 9am today, 65mm of rain has fallen on Sydney Olympic Park.
Across Sydney and the Blue Mountains, the SES has responded to 368 calls for help since yesterday.
