The state seat for Parramatta has become a three horse race; with Phil Bradley announcing his candidacy.
As the first Greens councillor elected to Parramatta, Cr Bradley will step into campaigning for the state seat against Labor’s Liz Scully and current Parramatta Liberal MP Geoff Lee.
Cr Bradley said his focus for the campaign will be housing affordability.
“The Greens always put people before profits. There is a fundamental human right for all to have a roof over their heads. Housing should be regulated and funded by government so that everyone has a safe, sustainable and affordable home,” he said.
Cr Bradley saw 13.94 per cent of votes in the Parramatta ward at last years local elections, and was a huge swing towards the party.
“We believe in an equitable, sustainable and environmentally friendly society.
“Economic inequality is growing by the year. Our society is becoming unfair for the
many, and way too profitable for the few. The Greens are a grassroots party which
represents those without wealth or power, and we will campaign for a jobs rich clean
energy future where all Australians have an opportunity to thrive.”
It will not just be housing that Cr Bradley will push, he has taken a firm stand against the Parramatta pool.
“I will campaign all the way to the state election for the NSW Government and opposition to commit to fully fund an Aquatic Centre to replace the swimming centre the community paid for and the government demolished.”
Before entering politics Cr Bradley was a civil engineer, TAFE teacher and a senior official of the Teachers Federation. He has run for local, state and federal government several times.
