NSW Food Authority name and shame more than 50 western Sydney restaurants

A single restaurant in western Sydney has tallied $5900 in hygiene fines from six inspections by the NSW Food Authority, and there are plenty of others in the area that are not meeting basic food standards. SEE THE LIST.

A whopping 44 businesses in the Cumberland district have been named and shamed in the NSW Food Authority’s latest list for breaches over the past year.

There were 17 food outlets in Auburn slapped with fines totalling $41,090, with Jasmin1 Lebanese restaurant one of the worst offenders.

It was hit with six penalty notices totalling $5940 for not meeting basic food and hygiene standards after being earlier served with warnings.

Lettuce Deliver Organics at Homebush West was fined $1320 for selling a “raw milk product that was not treated, packaged or labelled in a manner that deters human consumption.

Common breaches included failure to store food properly, improper labelling of food, inappropriate hygiene conditions and having pests on site.

The cities of Parramatta and Ryde had significantly fewer businesses hit with infringement notices, with just seven and three respectively over the past 12 months.
