Western Sydney hospitals are set to benefit from hundreds of millions of dollars worth of allocated funding in the NSW Budget.

NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet and Health Minister Brad Hazzard revealed more than $730 million worth of health infrastructure funding had been secured for the upgrades of Western Sydney hospitals.

The largest spend will go towards the stage one redevelopment of Westmead Hospital, with $286.4 million allocated in the next twelve months. The NSW Government has committed a total of $550 million towards the health infrastructure project.

The redevelopment of Nepean Hospital and integration of ambulatory services has been allocated $196.2 million worth of funding by the NSW Government this year, part of a $550 million project.

The stage two redevelopment of Campbelltown Hospital, which is earmarked to include new Mental Health and South West Paediatric Services, has secured $108.3 million worth of funding this year, part of a $632 million total budget for the project.

Mr Perrottet said the health initiatives the NSW Liberals and Nationals announced before the March election are part of a raft of new measures it will deliver over the next term of government to help families.

“We promised to deliver a better quality of life for all citizens no matter where they live or what their circumstances and easing stress around their health needs is key to that pledge,” he said.

“Whether it’s getting kids in and out of hospital quickly to ease the strain on families, or taking dental checks to them, we are getting it done. Healthy kids are happy kids, and happy kids means happy parents too.”

The Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct, which was announced in last year’s State Budget, secured $41.4 million in the next year as part of a $740 million project, while a total of $34.9 million in 2019-20 has been allocated to the stage two expansion of the Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals.

That project is expected to cost a total of $655.2 million.
