One year out from the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020, Australia and Sydney Thunder batter Nicola Carey is dreaming of a packed house at Spotless Stadium for the opening match of the tournament.

And she’s calling on fans throughout western Sydney to help make that dream a reality.

“It’s going to be a pretty massive event and hopefully we can pack out the ground,” Carey said.

“We played more games at (Spotless) this year with the Thunder than we ever have. We had good attendance. It’s not the biggest ground in Sydney but the fans have been very supportive.

“It would be awesome to play in front of a packed house there.”

Australia will open the tournament against India on Friday, February 21.

“There are a lot subcontinental fans that come to our Thunder fan days, many of which would come to see (India’s) Harmanpreet Kaur, so I think India will be very well supported during the tournament,” Carey said.

“Being the first match, the game will set the tone for our tournament and be a big one.”
