Merrylands: Driver Mohamed Marbany pleads guilty to dangerous driving after brother Nour killed in crash
A driver who was behind the wheel of a ute when his brother – a father of six – died in a horror crash in Sydney’s west has pleaded guilty almost two years after the fatality.

A man who was behind the wheel of a ute when his brother, a father of six, died in a horror crash at Merrylands has pleaded guilty almost two years after the crash.
Mohamed Marbany, 24, pleaded guilty at Parramatta District Court following the collision that killed his brother Nour, who was a passenger in the Holden Commodore ute which was travelling on Hawksview St.
It flipped onto its roof after it collided with a reversing Hyundai i30 on April 15, 2023, about 5pm. It also hit an unoccupied parked HiLux ute.
Marbany, 35, died at the scene, despite the efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics.
The Hyundai driver – a 37-year-old man – was uninjured and underwent mandatory testing at Westmead Hospital.
Marbany was due to stand trial on Monday but pleaded guilty to negligent driving (occasioning death) and dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous on March 14.
Nour’s wife Rema Zreika paid tribute to her husband following his death.
“You’ve shattered me into a million pieces,’’ she said.
“Inshallah (if God wills) I can be strong enough to raise your six kids.’’
Witnesses described the horror that unfolded after the collision.
Hawksview St resident Jemma Achi said she heard multiple bangs when the car flipped and crashed close to her home.
In June 2023, Marbany left Parramatta Local Court in tears after his first court appearance.
This month, a sentence assessment report was also requested from Penrith Community Corrections District Office and must be prepared by May 21.
Marbany remains on bail and will be sentenced on June 25.
