A man has died after being crushed by a tipper truck in a workplace incident at a recycling plant in Sydney’s west.

Emergency services including the CareFlight rescue helicopter arrived at the industrial park at Camellia just before 10am on Monday.

The 52-year-old had been hit by the truck before becoming trapped against it, suffering serious chest and head injuries.

The man was carefully removed by firefighters and intubated at the scene before being taken to Westmead Hospital where he later died.

Police have established a crime scene at the industrial park.

A SafeWork NSW spokesman confirmed yesterday they had opened an investigation.

“SafeWork NSW is investigating an incident at a Camellia recycling plant this morning where a man was seriously injured while unloading a truck. The man has been taken to Westmead Hospital via ambulance. Investigations are ongoing.”

The incident comes almost a month after another man died after being involved in an accident with a tipper truck.

Kurt Wilson, 47, was killed when tonnes of garbage were accidentally heaped on top of him and his co-worker at the BINGO Industries landfill at Eastern Creek.

Mr Wilson’s sister Jackie Shiner said the family would not stop until they got to the bottom of exactly how their brother died.

“This should not of happened to my brother I want answers and I want the truth,” Ms Shiner said.
