THE Police Riot Squad has descended on the Justice Precinct at Parramatta after reports of a bomb scare.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said there were “a number of police cars” who had responded but more information was being ascertained.

The courts were cleared an hour after the bomb threat was called in, with all courts open.

Anastasia Gerasimou was at the court all day and was told about the bomb threat during a court recess.

“It was just before 2pm that everything was locked down,” Ms Gerasimou said.

“I’m not worried, but it’s the first time I’ve seen something like this.”

Up to five police units were at the scene, and swept the buildings within the Parramatta justice precinct.

Scott Andrews arrived at 2pm for a delivery and was barred from entering the building.

“This is out of the blue,” Mr Andrews said.

“Police have been inside for a while, they told us it could be 10 minutes or could two hours, now it’s 3pm and still no bananas.”

Sirens and units were seen leaving the building at around 3pm when the doors were reopened for all courts.
