Live music on trains, town squares on Friday
From trains to town squares, Parramatta and Sydney Olympic Park will come alive with free concerts on Friday to mark Make Music Day.
Live music will sound through trains and public squares across Parramatta and Sydney Olympic Park on Friday to mark Make Music Day.
In Parramatta’s Centenary Square, free concerts will be held at various times between 12.15pm and 6pm with Mike Akox, Yacou Mbaye, Mel Bailey and Mike Champion to perform.
Over in Sydney Olympic Park’s Jacaranda Square on Murray Rose Ave, soul, R&B and rap concerts will take place throughout the day as well as open mic sessions for anyone willing to join in.
And commuters catching the train between Lidcombe and Sydney Olympic Park will also be treated to live music in the morning and afternoon peaks.
The day of music is part of the annual global Make Music Day, which takes place each year on June 21 and is held in more than 100 countries.
The free concerts have been organised by The City of Parramatta and the Sydney Olympic Park Authority and are supported by Create NSW.
The City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Andrew Wilson said the free concerts would “help build community spirit” as well as “showcase some of our best emerging local talent”.
