A southwest Sydney bank analyst was caught driving with cocaine in her saliva while she was on bail for supplying cocaine, a court has heard.

Lara Alali, 27, was charged with driving with an illicit drug in her oral fluid after police pulled her Mercedes CLA200 over in Guildford on December 17 last year.

Documents tendered to Parramatta Local Court state police stopped Alali around 11.40am, and an oral fluid test returned a positive result for cocaine.

“The checks conducted revealed the accused had her privileges withdrawn within NSW due to her entering a good behaviour licence on October 26, 2021,” police facts state.

“Between October 26, 2021 and October 3, 2022, the accused has committed a further 14 traffic-related offences which resulted in her privileges being withdrawn for the period between July 29, 2022 and April 28, 2023.”

The court heard Alali’s traffic infringements included speeding and using a mobile phone while driving.

In relation to her drug use, Alali told police “no comment”.

Alali pleaded guilty to the offence and engaged with the traffic offenders program before attending court.

At Parramatta Local Court on April 11, Magistrate Kate Thompson said Alali’s conduct was too serious to be dismissed given her poor prior traffic record.

Alali was fined $300 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Court documents state Alali’s drug driving offence constituted a breach of bail conditions she was subject to in relation to drug supply and possession charges.

Alali is due to be sentenced at Sutherland Local Court on May 18 for ongoing drug supply and drug possession in relation to three cocaine deals she made in Condell Park and Arncliffe in September 2022.
