Granville man Kevin Jones — who has more than 600 demerit points — will fight charges for his most recent offence, a court has heard.

The 25-year-old, formerly known as Sam Jaderi or Sarmad Jaderi, racked up a staggering 648 demerit points and more than $70,000 in fines.

He was granted bail last week for allegedly driving while disqualified at Granville on November 27. The fresh charge adds to what court documents showed was an unenviable 32-page traffic history.

The police statement of facts claims Jones has committed a whopping 55 traffic offences since his driving privileges were withdrawn in 2018 and “showed no remorse and appeared amused” when interviewed by officers about the situation.

When detectives showed Jones CCTV footage of him driving a Hyundai i30 out of an East St, Granville, unit block, court documents state he said: “It looks like me.”

Jones, according to the facts, is likely to face further charges as officers pour over CCTV from the same carpark showing him allegedly driving in and out on other occasions.

He was banned from driving indefinitely due to his huge fines in 2018 and has reportedly earned a similarly notorious driving reputation across the country.

“(Jones) holds numerous disqualified and cancelled drivers’ licences from almost every state and territory in the country,” the facts state.

“(Jones) is also the subject of an investigation by Transport NSW Investigators and State Debt Recovery Office in relation to his outstanding demerit points and taking demerit points on behalf of other drivers.”

At court last week, his lawyer Javid Faiz argued risks of him reoffending could be lowered by conditional liberty.

“Despite the fact that Mr Jones has over 500 demerit points over a short period of time, there is nothing to suggest that he is a threat to the community,” Mr Faiz said.

At Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday, the court heard Jones indicated he would be fighting the charge and that there would be two witnesses for the prosecution and defence in a hearing for April 9.

Outside the courtroom before his appearance, Mr Faiz said he was waiting for Jones to appear because “he’s the kind that sleeps in”.

Jones donned a hoodie and sunglasses when leaving court.
