A-League: Jeremy Horniblow accused of spitting on policeman at Bankwest Stadium Parramatta

An eastern suburbs football fan allegedly spat on a cop when he was chucked out of the A-League grand final - while everyone was on high alert during the coronavirus pandemic.

Bronte man Jeremy Horniblow, who police allege spat on a cop when he was ejected from the A-League grand final at Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta, has fronted court.

The 24-year-old football spectator was at the Sydney FC v Melbourne City clash on August 30 when police allege they assisted security to help remove him from the decider at 8.10pm.

Horniblow allegedly became argumentative and he was issued with a move-on direction once outside the stadium but police allege he started to walk away but turned around and spat at a policeman.

He was arrested and taken to Parramatta police station where he was charged with common assault, not complying with a noticed direction re spitting/coughing - COVID-19, and assaulting a police officer in the execution of duty.

Horniblow, who has played for Hakoah Sydney City East FC, was banned from the stadium after the alleged offences.

At Parramatta Local Court on October 14, Horniblow appeared with his lawyer.

No pleas were entered and the matter was adjourned to November 25.
