Harris Park brawl: Avon Kanwal, Baljinder Singh Thukral, Manhar Singh charged

A wild brawl involving up to 40 people in western Sydney was allegedly organised over TikTok, a singing and dancing app popular with teens.

Three men accused of various wrongdoings related to a wild Harris Park brawl that the riot squad was required to break up have been charged.

Parramatta and Cumberland police, the Operations Support Group, and the Public Order and Riot Squad broke up the fight at Wigram St on Friday, August 28, about 10.10pm.

There were allegedly up to 40 men at the fight, which was allegedly organised and broadcast on the TikTok social media app.

A 33-year-old man was treated for minor head injuries after he was punched and knocked to the ground.

Baljinder Singh Thukral was charged with affray, using carriage service to menace, harass and offend and publicly threatening violence on the grounds of religion.

Manhar Singh was charged with driving recklessly/furiously or speeding in a dangerous manner, and common assault.

Both men were granted bail to attend Parramatta Local Court today. Singh and Thukral’s matters were adjourned to October 21 and 28 respectively.

Avon Kanwal, 20, was the third man arrested and was charged with using a carriage service, namely TikTok, to menace, harass and offend. He was given strict conditional bail.

At Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday, Kanwal’s lawyer told the court his client planned to plead not guilty but there were still a series of videos and a transcript to view before pleas were formally entered.

The matter was adjourned to November 18.
