Facebook group elicits thousands of responses to Merrylands road rage brawl

A ROAD rage fight caught on video in Merrylands on Tuesday has seen 8000 people interested in a ‘round two Tradies v Lebs’ event organised on social media.

A FACEBOOK group has been created on the back of the four-man road rage brawl in Merrylands.

The group, named ‘Tradies v Lebs round 2’ describes itself as a repercussion following the brutal footage of four men fighting at a traffic light on Centenary Rd in Merrylands at 5pm on Tuesday.

The peak-hour brawl resulted in one arrest, with a 22-year-old handing himself in to Merrylands police station on Wednesday afternoon following widespread coverage of the alleged incident, which was filmed by another driver and shared on social media.

The Facebook group was created on Wednesday afternoon at 5.21pm and states “the Lebs didnt (sic) have a chance to call there (sic) cousins so we are having a Tradies v Lebs fight round 2”.

The event, which they state will be held at Merrylands Park on Monday at 6pm has garnered widespread attention with more than 8200 people interested in the event and 5300 claiming they will be attending.

Holroyd Police have since issued a statement following “public” concern.

“Police are monitoring the event and thank the public for all the information received so far. Provisions are being put in place to deal with it and we ask if anyone has urgent information in relation to the event being created they contact Merrylands police station,” the statement read.
