A mother who was driving with her two children has been charged with drink driving after allegedly hitting a family at William St, Ermington, yesterday.

Cumberland police said the 48-year-old woman was driving on William St when she hit a 55-year-old woman on the side of the road while pushing a pram carrying a two-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl.

The girl suffered a large cut to her knee and the boy had swelling to the face.

The woman suffered a leg injury.

All three were taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment.

The driver was submitted for a breath test which proved positive and was taken to Granville police station where she returned an alleged breath analysis reading of 0.09.

Her passengers – two children, aged eight and 10 – were not injured.

She was charged with mid-range drink driving and her licence has been suspended.

She has been bailed to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday November 26.

Police are expected to lay more charges.

A child-at-risk notification has been submitted to the Department of Family and Community Services.
