Parramatta burger eatery Milky Lane has closed after a customer tested positive to the coronavirus after a visit on Saturday July 11.
The Macquarie St eatery posted a message on Facebook informing the public that NSW Health advised management about the scare on Tuesday at 9pm.
The guest visited between 2pm and 3pm.
“We have been informed that there is no requirement for the premises to shut down or for any member of staff or patron to self-isolate but they will need to remain vigilant for any respiratory symptoms and get tested immediately and self-isolate should symptoms develop,’’ the post read.
However, management said it felt a duty of care to protect “guests, staff and the local community’’ so elected to close the premises.
Manager Elvis Sabapathy said “we are doing a lot more than they asked us to’’ and he planned to reopen the restaurant in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Staff have undergone testing and guests who were at the restaurant on Saturday have been urged to get tested immediately.
“The venue has been following a strict COVID Safe plan since the beginning of this pandemic and will continue to do so,’’ the post stated.
However a customer, Nathan, who declined to give his surname, slammed the restaurant for failing to follow contact tracing information when he visited the restaurant with his wife on Sunday about 2pm.
He said his wife planned to be tested today.
“We didn’t even see any signage to scan this code,’’ Nathan said.
“They should have said ‘Before you sit down, write your name down’. I’ve had a temperature check at a restaurant in the city; some people go too far.’’
