As more coronavirus cases climb in Sydney, testing is ramping up at clinics like a drive-through site at Carlingford’s Murray Farm Reserve.

Western Sydney Local Health District teamed up with other medical organisations, such as WentWest, to run the clinic at the reserve’s carpark.

The clinic, which started testing in late June, is the ninth the health service has opened since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Patients with moderate respiratory symptoms such as a fever, sore throat, coughing, tiredness, or shortness of breath can attend for assessment and testing.

WentWest CEO Ray Messom said the clinic helped avoid the strain on local general practices, hospital testing services and emergency departments.

“We are extremely proud to have played a part in delivering this outcome for our community,’’ he said.

NSW recorded 14 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm on Thursday, bringing the total number of cases in NSW to 3278.

This week, a 30-year-old woman tested positive after she went to the Crossroads Hotel in Casula on Friday July 3.

A 50-year-old man who also attended the pub on the same night has also been infected.

A Victorian man his 20s who was staying in a caravan park in the Sutherland Shire is a new confirmed case.

Online appointments at the Carlingford clinic are recommended at admin@lejeunemedical.com.au but patients do not require a referral.

Patients can arrive without an appointment but pre-booking ensures patients are fast tracked with no need to wait in line.

The clinic is open between 8am to 4pm from Monday to Friday, near the Lejeune Family Medical Practice.
