Drivers looked on in horror when a 59-year-old man wielding a timber stick smashed a windscreen of a car pulled up on one of western Sydney’s busiest roads.

Drivers looked on in horror when a 59-year-old man wielding a piece of timber allegedly smashed a windscreen in a shocking road rage incident at Constitution Hill.

Police said the man allegedly pulled up in the first lane of Old Windsor Rd near Hart Drive in front of car driven by a 41-year-old man after a disagreement about merging lanes yesterday just before 4pm.

The mobile phone footage shows the man get out of his car and striking the windscreen before another man intervened.

The man was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, reckless common assault, malicious damage and negligent driving.

He was ordered to front Parramatta Local Court on November 11.
