Claire Georgey, 22, dies after Merrylands West crash on Cumberland Highway
Friends and family are in shock following the death of the former Merrylands High student who has died after a head-on crash on the Cumberland Highway. The 22-year-old had clung to life in hospital for a week.

Former Merrylands High School student Claire Georgey, whose life was tragically cut short after a collision on the Cumberland Highway, had posted an ominous message on Facebook a week before the crash.
Miss Georgey, 22, was driving a Subaru wagon southbound on the Cumberland Highway at Merrylands West on September 7 when it collided with a sports car at the Bruce St intersection at 10.30pm.
After fighting for her life in Westmead Hospital for a week, she died on September 14.
On September 1, she posted a message on Facebook: “When will my car blow up?’’
The post became more chilling when her car collided with the Nissan Skyline and burst into flames shortly after what was intentioned to be a light-hearted post.
Miss Georgey’s Facebook and Instagram accounts record an apparent love of travel, the Parramatta Eels and socialising with family and friends.
On one Instagram account, she expressed missing her mother as she pointed to the moon.
“Thank u mum for always giving me great direction in this life n beyond – miss ya everyday!’’ the post said.
Mourners expressed their condolences on her father Richard’s Facebook page, which shows how proud he was of his daughter.
“Why this crazy world had to lose a beautiful ray of light,’’ one friend posted. “Gone too soon precious Angel Claire. Love you forever Claire such a bright, beaming light.’’
Another said: “Life is so cruel at times but memories and love will never leave you! May your precious girl Claire be resting and smiling with the angels!’’
The 32-year-old sports car driver and his 32 year-old male passenger were still in Westmead Hospital with head and internal injuries.
The crash is still under investigation and no charges have been laid.
