A fraudster has admitted filing $1.3m worth of fraudulent applications to businesses including luxury car dealership Mercedes Benz.
Wentworth Falls man John Anthony Grego, 66, also made dodgy applications to companies to apply for loans with Toyota Finance and Angle Auto Finance between May and November 2022.
He used business names Dandan Transport, Beauty by Robina, Century Holdings, Modern Sky, Fast and Efficient Cleaning Services to apply for car loans under an alleged syndicate which also used professional services to facilitate the false applications.
Court documents state all the claims were made in Parramatta except on September 1, 2022, when it was filed at Guildford.
The largest claim was when Grego defrauded Mercedes Benz Finance of $190,475 by making a false business activity statement under the name Beauty by Robina.
The smallest claim was still a hefty $112,380.
Grego faced Parramatta Local Court on Thursday when he pleaded guilty to seven counts of making a false document to obtain financial advantage.
Forty counts of the same charge were withdrawn.
The developments follow the NSW Police financial crimes squad’s arrest of Grego at a Parramatta business in January 2024 for making fraudulent finance applications to at least three companies as part of a wider investigation into a possible syndicate.
Grego is due to be sentenced on July 16.
