A western Sydney construction supervisor who used an Uber as a getaway car before cops nabbed him for trespassing at a house construction site has faced court for sentencing.

Merrylands construction supervisor Bill Marinos has been sentenced after he was caught trespassing at an under-construction house at Box Hill.
The 19-year-old appeared at Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to entering enclosed land without a lawful excuse at the construction site on July 1 about 11.30pm.
According to court documents, witnesses saw the former Parramatta Marist High School student trying to evade police and was “seen to be hiding and moving between Lot 114 Flower St and Lot 102 Box Rd, Box Hill, which resulted in further triple 0 calls’’.
It was then that the bumbling would-be thief called an Uber to pick him up from the site but the getaway was thwarted when police intercepted the Uber and he handed himself into police.
Court papers state Marinos, who earns $1500 a week, intended to damage and steal items and was wielding “a significant amounts of house breaking implements and this appeared to be planned”.
Magistrate Tim Keady told the court Marinos’ actions were at odds with his upbringing and his actions were “a huge disappointment” for his family.
“Why you involved yourself in something like this I don’t know,’’ Mr Keady said.
“This is your first brush with the criminal system. I hope a lesson’s been learned.’’
Marinos was sentenced to a conditional release order for 12 months but was not convicted.
Two co-accused are due to front Parramatta Local Court on September 9.
