Troy Xerri: Bronson Xerri’s brother allegedly killed Jo’anne Duke in crash
The brother of an NRL star who is accused of killing a woman in a head-on crash will not enter a plea until after the one year anniversary of the tragedy. A court heard more scene investigations are needed with police alleging the accused was travelling at more than 45km/h over the limit at the time.

The brother of an NRL star who is accused of killing a woman in a head-on crash will not enter a plea until after the anniversary of the tragedy with a court hearing “scene investigations” still need to be done.
Troy Xerri, 28, is facing multiple driving charges over the three-car collision that claimed the life of 63-year-old Jo’anne Duke.
Xerri was driving a Toyota HiLux south along Blaxland Rd in Eastwood after 5pm on November 13 last year when he allegedly collided head-on with Mrs Duke’s grey Mazda 2.

Two other persons Edwina Roberts and Michael Nader in separate cars were also injured as a result of the crash.
Xerri’s matter was heard for a brief mention at Burwood Local Court on Wednesday and he was excused.
In court the DPP prosecutor Danielle Mansour said a case conference was held on August 31 and made an application by consent for the matter to be adjourned for eight weeks.
When magistrate Lisa Stapleton asked why, Ms Mansour said further “scene investigations” were to take place.
Xerri, from Merrylands, was arrested on the night of the crash and charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning harm, negligent driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning harm.
He was also charged with failing to maintain control of his car before it allegedly crossed to the wrong side of the road and harmed another driver Edwina Roberts, according to court attendance notices.
Xerri’s charges were later upgraded to include aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death and aggravated driving causing harm after police allege he was travelling “more than 45km/h” over the speed limit. He was also charged with failing to give particulars to police.
Xerri is the stepbrother of Cronulla Sharks player Bronson who was suspended from May after returning a positive A-sample then later B-sample to anabolic steroids. He has recently elected to have his case heard by a tribunal.
Troy Xerri’s matter has been adjourned to November 18 for committal hearing.
