Teen, 15, arrested following crash of stolen ute in North Ryde

A northern Sydney teenager is facing court after stealing a ute, leading police on a chase and crashing into a home’s front yard at 1am.

A 15-year-old boy is due in court today after leading police on a pursuit through suburban streets in Sydney’s northern suburbs.

Police were stationed on Lane Cove Rd in North Ryde for a random breath test station when the teen approached the officers with the ute’s high beams on. Police attempted to stop the driver at 1.30am on Monday.

When the teen did not stop a chase started through the surrounding backstreets until the boy crashed into the front yard shrub of a home on Vimiera Rd in Eastwood.

The boy was taken to Ryde police station and will appear at Parramatta Children’s Court.

He was taken to Ryde police station where it was found the ute had been stolen from a North Ryde home on Tuesday, March 19.

The boy has been charged with not complying with directions to stop, a police pursuit and driving dangerously, speeding, taking a car without consent, and for not having a licence. He was also charged with breaking his bail conditions. He was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Children’s Court today.
