Ryde Rugby club has delighted a small village in Fiji by donating a wealth of gear including jerseys, boots and footballs.
Club secretary Clayton James and his son Hugo donated the equipment to the Vatukarasa village last month.
Ryde Rugby president Warren Price said it was “fantastic” for the club to be involved with such a worthy cause.
“The kids loved it,” he said.
“Many of them don’t even play in shoes, so it was just a wonderful thing to see the smiles on their faces.”
Ryde Rugby is launching its 2017 season on Friday at TG Milner field.
There will be a free ‘try rugby’ session at 5pm before the launch event at Eastwood Rugby Club at 6.30pm.
