Sabrina Howell is more excited than most for the end of the Summer Olympics.
The 18 year old from Hunters Hill is one of the country’s top biathlon competitors and is focused on representing Australia at the PyeongChang Winter Games in 2018.
“My main aim over the next two European seasons is to achieve Olympic qualification,” the Macquarie University student said.
Biathlon is a Nordic event which combines cross-country skiing with rifle shooting.
Howell is a multiple-time Australian national champion in the unique sport, however her results don’t come without plenty of hard work.
“I travel to Europe, on a regular basis to be coached,” she said.
“When I am over in Europe I train with many different national teams, such as the Latvian Biathlon team, in order to push myself to be the best that I can be.
“When I am not in Europe I train six days a week.”
Howell’s Olympic quest begins in November when she heads to Europe to prepare for the upcoming European competition circuit.
