Ryde: Teen charged over stabbing which left man in hospital

A teen has been charged over the alleged stabbing of a man in his 50s after he was caught with a friend graffiting a footbridge in a national park in Sydney’s north.

A teen will front court over the alleged stabbing of a man in his 50s after he caught them graffiting a footbridge in Sydney’s north on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to Magdala Road, just off Pittwater Road in North Ryde following reports a man in his 50s had been stabbed about 5.15pm on Wednesday.

It is alleged the man was stabbed in the abdomen after he confronted the two men after they were seen graffiting a footbridge in the Lane Cove Valley Walk.

“On arrival officers from Ryde police area command located a man believed to be aged in his 50s with injuries to his abdomen,” A NSW police spokesman told The Northern District Times.

He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital.

“We got the call just after 5.15pm. We had a few ambulance crews on scene,” a NSW Ambulance spokesman said.

Two men - aged 19 and 16 - were arrested and taken to Ryde Police Station. The older teen received treatment for an injury to his hand at Concord Hospital.

He was later released and charged with reckless wounding and possessing a prohibited drug before being refused bail to front Burwood Local Court today.

The younger teen was released pending further inquiries.
