A reduced speed limit will soon be enforced on a busy road in Sydney’s north in a bid to keep the community safe.
The speed limit will be reduced from 60km/h to 50km/h on Herring Rd in Macquarie Park from next week.
A Transport for NSW spokesperson said the 50 km/h speed limit will be installed along Herring Road between Epping and Talavera roads to provide “safer journeys” for motorists and residents.
“Lowering the speed along this section of Herring Road will provide a consistent speed for the entire length of road, with a 50 km/h speed limit already in place between Epping and Bridge roads,” he said.
“Motorists are reminded to drive to sign posted speed limits at all times for the safety of all road users.”
Currently the speed limit is 60km/h along the busy road which is lined by multiple institutions including Macquarie Centre, Macquarie University station, The Ranch and Kent Road Public School.
The changes to the speed limits were assessed based on a number of factors including crash history and traffic volumes.
The speed zone review was carried out in consultation with Ryde Council and the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE) to identify transport improvements in Macquarie Park.
The changes to the speed limit will come into effect when new speed limit signs are installed from March 31.
