NAPLAN results in Sydney’s northern district: How your primary school went

The top performing primary schools in Sydney’s northern district based on NAPLAN grades have been revealed.

The Northern District Times has combed through the recently released 2019 NAPLAN results and compiled a list of all the area’s primary schools and their results.

Two of the top five performers in Sydney’s northern district were Christian schools with Northcross Christian School in Ryde in second place and Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Primary School in fifth position.

Murray Farm Public School in Carlingford topped Sydney’s northern district with an impressive NAPLAN school average of 537.9 points.

It was closely followed by Northcross Christian School in Ryde at 537.5.

Deputy principal Alison Drobnak said she was proud of the students’ “outstanding” NAPLAN results.

“While we celebrate the outstanding results of our students in NAPLAN 2019, we are also mindful that these results are only a snapshot of their learning,” Ms Drobnak told The Northern District Times.

“We have an awareness of not putting pressure on our students during assessments such as this.”

“We greatly value our staff and parent partnerships within our school which makes such a difference to student learning.”

The Baptist primary school was 28.3 points behind Northern Sydney’s highest ranking school which was St Aloysius at 565.8.

Beecroft Public School ranked third in the area with a score of 532.5 followed by Carlingford West Public School at 532.4.

Our Lady Help of Christians came in fifth place with an average score of 529.8 followed by Epping Public School at 526.6.

The NAPLAN test is designed to measure and track students’ progress in literacy and numeracy.

Students in Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 took part in the controversial nationwide standardised test last May.
