Multi-trades and digital hub: $128.9M Meadowbank TAFE fast-tracked
A multimillion-dollar education precinct with a digital-focused TAFE campus will provide jobs of the future for thousands of students through studies including cybersecurity training and using Virtual Reality (VR) technologies.

A multimillion-dollar education precinct with a digital technology-focused TAFE in Sydney’s northwest has been fast-tracked as part of the NSW Government’s planning acceleration program.
The $128.9 million Meadowbank campus will become the state’s first digital TAFE NSW campus, sitting alongside a new primary and high school, aimed at training students for future jobs and connecting them with local industries.
Known as the Multi-Trades and Digital Technology Hub, it will comprise of a six-storey education building and a three-level carpark with 241 car park spaces.

Cybersecurity training and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies and simulated learning experiences will be part of the campus’s state-of-the-art offerings.
Member for Ryde Victor Dominello said the Multi-Trades and Digital Tech Hub will bring $128.9 million of economic activity to Ryde and support 226 jobs during construction.
“This education and employment precinct will provide our growing community with brand new, purpose-built education facilities and will be an economic boost for local businesses,” Mr Dominello told The Northern District Times.
“It’s encouraging to see that preliminary work has already begun on the TAFE site and it’s expected that construction on the campus will be completed in 2022.”
Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education Geoff Lee said the new hub will consolidate Ryde’s emergence as a Centre of Excellence for education and training.
“The NSW Government is connecting students to training and employment opportunities for the industries of the future,” Mr Lee said.
“As a Centre of Excellence, TAFE NSW Meadowbank will deliver technology-focused, specialist training in emerging ICT areas such as design and cybersecurity.
“We are able to fast-track the necessary planning processes for TAFE NSW Meadowbank project as part of the government’s Planning System Acceleration Program. The quicker we can move forward with plans, the better it is for our students and industry.”
The TAFE NSW Meadowbank determination is among the latest tranche of prioritised planning determinations in the NSW Government’s fast-tracked assessment program.
To date, the Planning System Acceleration program has seen more than 80 projects determined, creating the potential for more than $22 billion in economic activity, almost 50,000 new jobs and almost 25,000 new homes.
