It is the northwest Sydney housing proposal that sparked widespread controversy from surrounding residents but the Ivanhoe Estate at Macquarie Park has been approved by the NSW Government.

The fast-tracked approval of mulitmillion-dollar project that would see a total of 3,300 homes – including close to 1000 social housing residents – was announced by Planning Minister Rob Stokes on Sunday as part of the NSW Government effort to inject billions of dollars worth of construction funding into the struggling economy.

The Ivanhoe Estate was one of 20 projects announced as part of a $7.8 billion fast-track approval list by the NSW Government earlier this week.

“Ivanhoe Estate is one of the first projects to have its assessment fast-tracked through the Planning System Acceleration Program, which is creating jobs and driving investment right across NSW,” Mr Stokes said.

“By supercharging the planning system and getting Ivanhoe Estate out the door, we are injecting $303 million into the State’s economy and providing 572 jobs.
