A mother has been left in shock after discovering a dead cat wrapped in a bloody towel in her front yard.
Epping mum Brittany Watson took to social media sharing a picture of what appears to be the legs of a cat wrapped in a bloodstained towel inside a plastic bag.
“What a**hole killed someone's cat and left it wrapped up in a bag on my nature strip?” she said on Facebook.
“I've had a heart attack finding a bag of blood. You could’ve at least taken it to the vet for a scan.”
Ms Watson said she found the bag dumped on her front lawn on the corner of Holland Street.
“When I found a large bag...I had a bit of a heart attack,” she told The Northern District Times.
“I'm used to dead animals from doing medical research in the past but when it was wrapped up and I didn’t know what it was and had to unwrap it, I was really uneasy.”
Residents have since said they saw the dead cat on nearby Devon Road yesterday after it was reportedly hit by a car.
“Someone has since wrapped it up in a bathrobe,” Ms Watson said.
People have taken to social media expressing their disbelief.
“Oh how awful,” one mother said.
“This is heartbreaking,” another commented.
The incident has since been reported to council.
