Ryde alleged hit and run, man to face court

A man has been charged over an alleged hit and run which left a woman with critical head and pelvis injuries in Sydney’s north-west.

A man has been charged over an alleged hit and run which left a woman with critical head and pelvis injuries in Sydney’s north-west.

Emergency services were called to Mons Ave at West Ryde following reports of an injured woman found on a road about 12.40am on Sunday.

Police allege the woman was struck by a vehicle which then drove off.

The 20-year-old was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition with head injuries and a fractured pelvis.

At about 11am on Monday, a North Sydney Local Health District spokeswoman said the woman was now in a stable condition.

Following inquiries, crash investigators arrested a 23-year-old Kellyville Ridge man at Ryde Police Station about 8pm on Sunday.

The man was charged with failing to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm and negligent driving occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail and will appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday.
