A woman who allegedly drove so ‘erratically’ she mounted a roundabout and footpath has been charged with drug supply and possession after police found multiple bags of cannabis and ‘crystal-like’ substances in her car.
A 54-year-old woman from Lidcombe was driving a white Hyundai I30 in a south-westerly direction along Balaclava Rd in Eastwood about 2am on Monday (April 13).
Police allege her Hyundai mounted the concrete roundabout at Akublea Rd before dislodging a large rock leaving parts of the vehicle in the middle of the roundabout.
She then continued driving in a southerly direction towards the southern kerb on Balaclava Rd.
Police allege her car went along the southern footpath for about 20 to 30 metres before going back on the road.
The vehicle then headed in a northerly direction before allegedly crossing to the incorrect side of the road.
She then steered her car back to the correct side of the road before colliding with the southern kerb and halting at the footpath, according to police.
Police were alerted by neighbours who heard the crash.
When officers arrived they found the woman in the driver's seat of the vehicle and suspected she may be under the influence of a drug or alcohol due to her “erratic actions.”
While the woman was trying to find her licence, police allege she was avoiding them seeing the inside of her car.
Officers saw some resealable bags and a large sum of notes in her wallet.
Police placed the woman under arrest and searched the vehicle where they found two resealable bags containing cannabis, a crystal-like substance which police suspect to be the drug ‘Ice’ and a container of liquid believed to be GHB. An unknown pill and a syringe of an unknown liquid were also found.
Police seized three mobile phones and scales also in the vehicle.
The woman was taken to hospital to undergo a blood and urine sample and she was issued a Court Attendance Notice for supplying and possessing a prohibited drug.
Investigations continue and further charges are expected to be laid.
She will appear in Burwood Local Court at a later date.
