DR John Knight, also known as Dr James Wright through his media profile, is recovering from surgery for bowel cancer as he and his family wait for pathology results.
The 89-year-old, who has a practice at North Ryde, had surgery today at the Sydney Adventist Hospital.
His son David Knight said doctors advised the surgery went according to plan.
The Knight family will next wait for pathology tests, which will determine whether the cancer has spread to other parts of Dr Knight’s body.
Mr Knight said he expected this to take about a week.
Meanwhile Dr Knight is recovering from the operation.
“He will be in the San for a number of days, feeling absolutely lousy, as he is not too good with anaesthetics,” Mr Knight said.
Dr Knight was only recently cleared of any ongoing effects from throat cancer, which he had surgery for five years ago.
