Hundreds of hampers have been donated to the community’s most vulnerable during the coronavirus pandemic thanks to a partnership between Harris Farm and two Sydney councils.
Hunter’s Hill Council and City of Ryde have teamed up with Harris Farm Boronia Park to deliver the hampers filled with fresh produce for community organisations to hand out to vulnerable residents.
This week, the first lot of hampers were donated to a range of residents from social housing tenants at Link Housing and disadvantaged families, to refugees and international students at Macquarie University.
Hunter’s Hill mayor Cr Mark Bennett, said the hampers would help many within the community who are struggling as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.
“The impact of the COVID-19 outbreak has been significant and far-reaching throughout our community and the delivery of these hampers will help those experiencing hardship during this challenging time,” Cr Bennett said.
Ryde mayor Cr Jerome Laxale said it has been “heartening” to see businesses and residents come together during the crisis.
