A Sydney pizzeria has created a new buy a pizza for a stranger initiative to get the community to band together during the ongoing health crisis.
Carlingford Gourmet Pizza’s manager Ben Khodeir took to Facebook to introduce a new Pay It Forward initiative allowing customers to buy a pizza for someone who can not afford it along with a personalised message on a post-it note.
“So starting today, you can come into our shop or phone in and purchase a large pizza for a family in need. We'd really appreciate it and so would they,” Mr Khodeir said.
In the video which has had almost 13,000 views in less than 24 hours Mr Khodeir said the coronavirus situation was “pretty crazy” and hoped for the community to come together to help others who are doing it tough.
“We’re giving people the opportunity to purchase a pizza for someone who might have lost their job or someone who might be struggling at the moment,” he said.
“There’s nothing like pizza to cheer you up.
“Let’s all work together and help each other.”
People have praised the restaurant’s initiative on social media.
“Well done guys, belief in humanity restored!” one woman said.
“God bless you Ben, you have the biggest heart and a wonderful team behind you,” another said.
