Coalition commits to building new Epping primary school
The Coalition Government has committed to building Epping’s first primary school in nearly three decades if it is re-elected next month.
The Coalition Government has committed to building Epping’s first primary school in nearly three decades if it is re-elected next month.
Treasurer and NSW Liberal candidate for Epping Dominic Perrottet said the new school would be built on the former agricultural TAFE site on Chelmsford Avenue.
“This is a huge boost for the thriving local community, offering our children the best possible start to life,” Mr Perrottet said.
“It also demonstrates how the Coalition continues to make Epping a priority. This new school is in addition to the removal of all demountable buildings from Epping West Public, not to mention the Sydney Metro Northwest rail line, which opens this year.”
Education Minister Rob Stokes said the project was another example of the government delivering the educational resources students and their families deserve.
“We want our children to have the best possible educational opportunities and providing high-quality school facilities like this one at Epping is a key part of that,” he said.

Mr Stokes said design work would now take place to determine what facilities will be needed at the new school and to ensure the community’s needs were met.
Labor candidate for Epping Alan Mascarenhas hit out at the announcement, describing it as an “unfunded pipe dream with no delivery date and detail”.
“The Coalition’s done nothing for years as Epping’s exploded — and now Perrottet is in a panic because he’s struggling to connect with his third seat (after being the MP for Hawkesbury and Castle Hill),” Mr Mascarenhas said.
